Protecting Children From Lithium Button Batteries

Mr. Chandler successfully concluded a case in which a two (2) year old child had emergency surgery after swallowing a lithium button battery that he removed from a pedometer.  Mr. Chandler advocated that products powered by lithium button batteries must be designed to protect little children from harm and that a pedometer with an unsecure battery compartment needlessly endangers little children.

The pedometer in question was manufactured in China.  As consideration for the settlement, the seller of the pedometer agreed to cease all further future distribution of the pedometer.
